Our History
Curtis Scheib the founder and CEO of Ecobuilders grew up in the environs of Missouri. Growing up he learned the trade of autobody and auto mechanics work. from his father and grandfather. While attending college he received his first dose of enviromental education. While researching the newly named superfund sites for a writing project called slow poison, he came to the realization that the same companies that were responsible for polluting these sites were also the manufacture of the many chemicals found in use in the auto industry. The light bulb went on as the connection was made. After a short stint to the mountians of Colorado as a bonafide ski bum he returned to his shop full of chemicals and realized that he developed a strong chemical sensitivity to them. Shortly there after the shop was closed and he packed up and moved to Colorado permantly. After many years of ski bumming around he ended up in the property maintence field. It was here that he realized that buildings that were only 20 to 30 years old where not performing very well both in terms of energy efficency, indoor health quality, and maintence upkeep. Ah the light bulb goes on once again and the search began for a better way to build buildings.
After years of research and expermentation Ecobuilders is born with a mission statement that each structure built should be as energy efficent as possible, to provide high indoor air quality, as well as make the lowest impact on the future generations according to the materials, techniques and implementation of ther use.
Therefore the structures Ecobuilders builds encompass all of these elements into them from site impacts to local and healthy products and all the other aspects of sustainable building and living. He is constanly rattling his brain to come up with healthier, cost effective ways of living in a more sustainable world.
